Tablets operate in both self-paced and group-paced response modes, making them flexible enough to work in any research format. For example, initial and final questionnaires with large numbers of questions are best administered in self-paced mode, while instant feedback to key questions related to a presentation are best done as a group. Tablets can shift smoothly between modes of collection, and in addition can be used for continuous, moment-to-moment response to stimuli.
