Question Content Guidelines

Guidelines for Submitting Audience Polling Questions

  • Questions should be in a multiple-choice format for all standard keypad applications. Choices may be numbered from 1 to 10, lettered A to E, simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, or on a scale from 1-X with one choice. Correct choices, if any, should be clearly indicated, preferably by an asterisk next to the choice. When using Reply Mini+ and Plus, you may also submit questions with 1-9 choices with ranking or multiple selection. For PushOne browser-based polling, questions may also be percentage and text polls conducted in either group paced or self-paced formats.
  • Questions and choices should be stated as clearly and succinctly as possible, remember, the more words that are displayed on a screen, the smaller they must be and the harder it will be for the audience to read them.
  • ARS displays can highlight specific words on AV screen using bold, italic, underline, and/or a unique highlight color. Superscripting and subscripting are supported. Browser-based polling does not support bold italic or underline, but words can be emphasized in all caps.
  • Use of normal upper and lower case conventions is encouraged, as it makes the questions more readable for the audience. To assure the correctness and appropriateness of all text displayed, ARS will honor upper and lower case as submitted.
  • Questions should be submitted in the order they are to be used wherever possible. Inclusion of an event agenda with the questions is very helpful.
  • Questions should be submitted to ARS one to two weeks prior to your event date if at all possible, to allow for their accurate and efficient entry, display formatting, proofing, and delivery to your site event.
  • If you are planning to utilize ARS for both non-polling informational slides and polling, it is best to submit the information in a PowerPoint file for import and use in our system. Please use PowerPoint’s enumerated list (automatic numbering) for question choices on your slide containing a question. There should only be one question on each slide.
  • To serve you more effectively and efficiently, ARS asks that questions be submitted in printed or typewritten form. Please do not send handwritten originals, or multiple generation faxes.
  • We prefer to accept questions via word document (.doc), ASCII text (.txt) or PowerPoint for importing into our software. This will help eliminate some typographical errors. Questions should be e-mailed to your primary sales contact.
  • ARS would like to help you make your presentations look as professional as possible. If you are using any other slide, presentation support, logos or specific color schemes, we would like to get a copy of that information and/or template files. We are using bitmap (.bmp) or high quality .jpg images in a standard resolution (1024 x 768, 32 bit color) format or HD (1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080) format to match your graphics and AV displays. We can accept a number of different formats and convert the image to the desired format for our program. If you have materials to contribute, please forward them to us via e-mail to your sales contact.
Following entry or importing into our system, ARS proofs all questions for typographical errors against the originals provided. We are happy to send a copy of the questions back to you for additional grammatical and content proofing. ARS also encourages you to schedule a rehearsal prior to beginning the meeting for one final review of the questions on screen.
